Department of Catholic Schools

Christ is the reason for this school,
The unseen but ever present teacher in its classes,
The model of its faculty,
The inspiration of its students.

Philosophy

Catholic schools of the Diocese of Santa Rosa offer an education that is

Purposeful . . . The Gospel of Jesus Christ, his teachings and way of life as proclaimed by the Catholic Church, is both purpose and foundation for all the educational activity of any school under the mantle of the diocese. According to this purpose, schools are ardent for the human and Christian development of students.

Value-Based . . . Catholic schools of the diocese are deliberate about eliciting and promoting virtuous behaviors in students. These behaviors are rooted in such principles as the inalienable dignity of the human being, respect for all persons, the responsible use of freedom, openness to life, and service to others.

Complete . . . The human and Christian development of students constitutes a complete education. This kind of education shapes the human being in mind, in heart, and in body through instruction in all the secular subjects and through provision of a spiritual base that ensures personal wholeness.

Collaborative . . . In their recognition that parents are the first educators of their children, both in time and in significance, in their care for the welfare and growth of students as unique persons, in their organizational structures for parents, and in their reliance on parents' support, Catholic schools of the diocese show themselves to be natural partners with parents.

Accessible . . . The Catholic schools of the diocese are financed largely by tuition monies collected from the parents of current students. A commitment to remain within financial reach of parents, Catholic and otherwise, prompts the Catholic schools of the diocese to carefully set tuition rates, to make prudent use of material resources, to raise funds through development efforts, and to provide tuition assistance to needy students.

Accreditation

Each of the Catholic schools of the Diocese of Santa Rosa is currently accredited. Such accreditation is the joint work of the Western Catholic Educational Association (WCEA) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
