The Department of Youth Ministry serves the 40 parishes of the Diocese of Santa Rosa by supporting their ministry among young and older adolescents in grades 6-12 through leadership development and needs-based services. Its primary focus is to assist and encourage parish youth ministry leaders with growing a comprehensive Catholic youth ministry. Its programs and services are derived from the goals, dimensions and components of comprehensive youth ministry as outlined in the document: Renewing the Vision: A Framework for Catholic Youth Ministry, published by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (1997).

Stephen M. Morris, directorStephen has spent a lifetime working with youth as a mentor, coach, teacher, and program director. His leadership and vision have contributed to success as an academic and executive. After his first child was born, he left the corporate world and converted his volunteering into a career serving the church, starting as a high school theology teacher. In 2014 Bishop Robert F. Vasa named Stephen as director of Youth & Young Adult Ministry office.
